Another question do you have to sand down the table before you whitewash or can you use the table top as is
Can you do this in any color I have a table that's just like yours that stands behind the couch and I like what you did with yours
Tudo mentira paguei e não tenho notícia do produto consulta diz que o pedido não existe
??
Do you mind me asking did you live in San Diego and were you ever married to a sailor
How awesome and so adorable!! Thanks for sharing I'm going on to search for sweaters I NEVER wear lol thanks again!!💜💜💜
Thank you, Kate! Have fun!! ❤
Can you do this in dresser drawers or do you think the midgepodge would be bad for it?
Absolutely! I do it all the time! 💕
This is the lovliest Christmas Village I've ever seen! Love your clever idea to "house" it in the drawer shelving! Perfect!
Aww that means so much, Donna! Thank you! ❤
I FINALLY got to this point in my TV cabinet Vintage mahogany took 3 coats of Boss and 3 coats of fluff - before I had all the Boss coats I had to walk away because I was about to set the thing on fire - glad I didn’t Applied my satin clear with the wonderful blue sponge - jus have to install my knobs and it’s moving to my sewing studio for storage - thank you for your tips along the way - I subscribed 3 years ago and watch every new episode - so fond of your “smalls”
Thank you, Kathy! I’m so glad you didn’t set it on fire lol! With the boss, proper dry time is the key to making that work well so just allow it to dry for a day or so and you should only need one coat. It’s OK if pink comes through that boss layer as it shouldn’t come through the paint once it has been given enough dry time. Just for next time! I’m so glad you loved your entries result! ❤
The video goes so fast you can’t tell what you’re doing plus you’re too far away. I love the idea and how you converted the chest. But I would have liked to have seen where all the cords went and where you plugged that many in.
Hi! This video went with a blog post that shows more detail. You can see that here: www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/a-new-way-display-that-christmas-village/ I use cords that have four bulbs on one strand that can light all the houses on each level. ❤
Are you using chalk paint for whitewashing? Would love to know many thanks
Hi! Yes…I show what I used at the start…it is watered down chalk paint. 💕

Oh Awesome!! Have fun with your new house!
Not at all liking this whitewash result. I prefer to see an opaque woodgrain pattern, not horizontal wipe marks.
Thank you for spreading kindness today.
Great looking pumpkins!
Thanks!! 🧡
Sooo cute. Am inspired to make some. Thanks for sharing. watching from Manila.
Thank you! I hope you try them! 😊
These are fantastic! Easy, sustainable, and adorable! I will definitely try making these! Thank you for the tutorial! 🤗
My pleasure! Enjoy!!
I wish I was there. I'd buy one of those beautiful sweaters from you. They're too pretty to cut up to make pumpkins. I know they're pretty they'll make nice pumpkins. But I wish I could find something like that in my thrift store to wear
So cute....
awesome job. thank you
Thanks, Paul!
Very nice.. Ill be sure to share with my Daughter-in-law as she loves this look.
Thank you! 💕
I just watched your video. I can't wait to try to male one. Off to Goodwill tomorrow I go!
Awesome!! Enjoy! 🧡
For those concerned, spraying Scotch Guard on top of fabric would keep it clean and protect it longer. Use a damp cloth to wipe whenever needed. (Works wonders on cloth furniture.)
Super👍🇨🇵👏😉
Thank you! 🩷
I'm painting my kitchen table and 4 chairs in cotton (chalk). Do I need to seal them or can I just sand lightly. I use placemats on the table to protect from spills. Thanks so much!
Hi Ruth! You definitely want to seal it. I recommend Gator Hide as it is water repellant and a super tough topcoat with no yellowing when you apply it with the blue sponge applicator. You may find my tutorial on how to paint a kitchen table over on my blog helpful: www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/how-to-paint-a-kitchen-table/ Good luck!
How do they clean it when you mod podge it?
Hi Cheryl! I did use lighter fabric on this one, but I usually choose a darker, more forgiving fabric. A drawer in an end table like this shouldn’t get too dirty through. You can always spot clean and if you even need to replace the fabric, it pulls out pretty easily.
This is probably a stupid question but I do have the mahogany antique entryway table and I want to stain the top and paint the bottom just like you’ve been doing with your furniture can I use Dixie bells, clear boss and then stain over the top of that?
Hi Cheryl! Bleedthrough is not an issue if you plan to stain. You would want to either sand the top to the original wood finish or use a stripper to get it back to the original wood, and then go right to staining. Follow up with a water-based sealer once the stain has had about three days to dry. I hope that helps!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate you replying back to my question. Thank you for the wonderful videos.
@@cherylmcguire7960 You’re welcome! Thank you!

Hi Christy, I just love your channel and everything you do with old pieces of furniture and boxes etc. I originally saw your projects on Pinterest, and I've been hooked ever since! I signed up to receive your '30 DIY Projects' and they've been really helpful, especially your instructions on how to paint even stripes onto a box because I'm making a jewellery box for a friend of mine and I decided to paint the outside in grey and white stripes, and then line the inside with padded velvet in black. Well, the first lot of stripes were all wonky so I painted over them and started again! And this time, with your help, they were fine and the jewellery box turned out really well, especially considering how it looked before!😅 So thank you for all your help. Love from Amanda Jones in Melbourne, Australia
Thank you SO much, Ananda!! I’m so glad you found me and I love that you enjoyed recreating something for your friend. I hope she loved it!! 🩷
@@ChristyJamesThank you so much for replying to my comment Christy. My friend Marie did indeed love the jewellery box, so that was great. I make jewellery myself at home but I like to do different projects as well so I don't get stuck in a rut. I did the jewellery box because I was having a mental block with my jewellery making, and if I do something different it really helps to get rid of the block, if you know what I mean.
Where did you get the decorative sheet metal? Love all your videos!
Thank you! I found it on Amazon here: amzn.to/3IMPh8t
Hello I'm looking at lining my cabinet with felt, Will this work ? And what fabric you suggest for cabinets (cabinets for clothing)
WOW!!! I have about 25-30 Christmas houses - but yours are SO COOL! Are they a particular brand/maker? Mine are all Pleasantville, and I've displayed them on a "ledge" created when we took out half a wall. (Also have to put some on a sofa table and, bottoms of coffee tables.) Now I'm on the hunt for a dresser! Do you put the drawers back in after Christmas? I wonder if I could create front panels that could stick somehow - and then at least the houses could stay put all year and not have to be all boxed up again and again?!
Hi Jeanne! Mine are all different makers that I’ve collected over the years from various places. This dresser lives in my office to house supplies, so I store the drawers away during the holidays and put them back after. It has been a great way to display them without taking up additional space! 💕
Thanks for the straightforward explanation!
Sure thing!
Bonjour. J aime beaucoup ,je voudrais savoir vous faite les petites courges aveque les manches et les corps vous en faites rien .merci beaucoup bonne journée 🤩🤩
What a great idea and such a sweet tradition.
I've looked at dozens of youtube videos and pinterest articles. THIS is exactly what Ive been looking for. TY!
Do the edges first? Sand between coats?
Hi! I usually do the edge I start on then do the sides as I go. You can do them all first or after as long as you avoid going back over an area that is drying with a wet sponge, if that makes sense. There is no need to sand in between coats.
Great idea. You can use a wallpaper smoother to make all the bubbles go away very fast. :)
Yes! 😊
Have many colors.
Chalk paint coke many colors. Your work is very help. Do you use chalk paint on the knobs if not what brand of pant use. Thank You.
I’m so glad this was helpful! Yes, I often use chalk paint on the knobs. I sometimes use spray paint as well but prefer the texture chalk paint adds. 💕
I just subscribed....found your blog through Pinterest and ended up here thankfully ❤️
Awesome!!
Thank you 🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹
My pleasure! 💕
When using chalk paint do you only sand to age the piece or do you always sand?
Hi Cynthia! Chalk paint has a bit of a texture to it, so I always sand. If I plan to not distress, I will just very lightly sand it with 220 grit sandpaper wrapped around an old sanding sponge. It will make your surface super smooth. I hope that helps!
That’s very good to know. I used chalk paint once and it wasn’t a good results. I will go back and sand. I’m sure that will make a huge difference. Thanks so much!
@@cynthiabrathwaite9407 Oh yes! It sure will. It will make it really smooth. 😊
OMG I did it! I never do anything sewing related b/c I find it so hard but I waa actually able to do this one! Thank you for an easy to understand tutorial! ❤
Yay!! I love that! You are so welcome!!
Hi Abigail! I would seal any surface that will get a lot of heavy use and potential water contact with drinks, etc, with Gator Hide: www.etsy.com/listing/707322289/dixie-belle-gator-hide
If I was going to do this for the top of a dining table, what product would you suggest I use to seal it?
I've never EVER seen a more beautiful Christmas village. Absolutely stunning and I love the old dresser you repurposed that house's it . Really wonderful job. Look forward to seeing more videos from you. 🥰
Aww thank you so much, Tracy! I’m thrilled that it worked out so well! ❤️
Merci c'est vraiment trèèèès joli !!!! Bravo et super pour les explications...en image.
